air filter

i opened the black box and removed the air filter, than i noticed that connected to that box under where the air filter goes inside of the box is another filter. it looks like small pillows. does that need to be replaced? i didn't see anything in the manuel about that. also i attempted to pull it out but it seems to be part of the black box. does anyone know if that needs to be replaced or can tell me anything about it?
thanks

Hmm, do you have a picture of it? I don't remember seeing anything like that when I changed mine.

Yeah, I don't know what you are talking about. You should just have your main filter on top, and then underneath is a tube that goes to the resonator behind the bumper.

heres a picture of the air filter and resonator assembly.
if you see the white pouch in the picture then its meant to be there. if not then its not. hope that helps.

Those white "pillows" are sound dampening material. You can take it out but its a one way process. Requires breaking plastic clips.

that makes sense. so that sound dampening material never needs to be changed? mine looks grey.

No. It doesn't filter air or anything. It just absorbs sound from the resonator.
