advice on an acura

I have been looking around for a 95-96 TL on the internet for quite awhile. I just found a 1994 Legend GS at a dealership in town. The guys who owns this place buys wrecked cars and fixes them and sells them. I am told that the damage wasn't too bad to this car, and there are absolutely no visible signs that there ever was damage, this guy does a great job on body work. As I said, the car is a GS, and has a 6-speed manual tranny. It has 95000 miles on it and has a type II 3.2 V6. The sticker price on this car was 8500 and I have talked the dealer down to 7500, hope to get him closer to 7000, though. I am just looking for any advice anyone might have. I am someone who makes a lot of spur-of-the-moment decisions and have come to regret a lot of them. My dad thinks I should get the car but my mom tells me to wait for something else. I know she probably thinks I will be wasting my money. Do you think this is a good deal? Is this too good to pass us? Also, do you think this will be a reliable car for several years to come? ANY advice whatsoever is very great appreciated!

car salesman tend to...dare i say..lie?? The car could be heavily damaged and to the avg person, they won't be able to know if the cars been in a wreck or not. This is how I check to see if a cars ever been in a wreck. I run my fingers along the top part of the hood (the edge facing the whole front windshield). if its smooth, then most likely it didnt get hit..from the front. If you feel it being rough and not smooth then the cars been hit. do the same for all the doors (run your fingers along the edge of the doors.)

I personally would not buy really old used cars. 94 is kind of pushing it for me but thats just me though. You and your parents are prob on a budget but its worth it if you wait for another car or something. once again, that is just my .02

thanks for the help......about the damage, several of my friends have bought cars from this guy and I talked to a friend who saw this car when he got it in and my friend told me that the car was very lightly damaged in the right front. I made sure to ask the dealer about the damage and he said that the right front was damaged. I understand that he is in this for the money, but I trust my friends' opinions. Thanks for the help!

Totally depends on the dealers reputation. As for the car itself, if the maintainence was done properly, it should run like a charm. Those Type II engines are sweet

Go to www.carfax.com and type in the vehicle's VIN # it will cost you a little bit but it will tell you anything and everything regarding owners, wrecks, flood damage, insurance claims, etc. It is a great tool to purchasing a used vehicle. I think it costs like $19.99 and you can use it repeatedly for a month. Which means if you decide no to the Legend you can use it to check out others.
