adding navi? Discuss!

howdy all,

Looking for a way to add navigation to the 3.2TL. Is there any way we can modify the dash in someway that would allow for a navigation screen without raping the stock sound system (which I quite like). I've seen many kits on ebay for converting second gen nonnavi TLs to Navi, so I was wondering if maybe we could use these kits, and some ingenious wiring and mounting, and have a stock Acura navi system in our cars.

Of course, if none of the above will work, there's always the Pioneer AVIC-D1 or upcoming AVIC-Z1. I dunno, but for some reason, I'd rather prefer a stock navigation system.

EDIT: The TSX navi/radio is a combined unit and fairly small. Anyone reckon we could shoehortn one of these into a 1st gen and wire everything up?

My advice:

Either get the Pioneer unit you mentioned

or...

somehow find the dash used in navi equipped Honda Inspires and see what you can do from there.

yeah I agree with unsane. A carputer is much more practical.
for a navi system, you need the brain and an lcd screen.
And all it does is show you maps.
with a carputer, you have similar components setup and can do more.
my favorite is wifi!
