ABS Light?!? Help!!!

Hey guys!! I finally got my car a few hours ago. Damn shippers. But anyways, when I started up the car, the ABS light turned on to check the bulb BUT after the light turned off, I heard the ABS cycled (the clicking sound)...it was a loud clicking sound, then the ABS light turned on and stayed on. I checked the brake fluid, it was fine. I also checked the ABS system fluid and that was fine. Anyone have this problem?!?!?!?

Check your parking brake lever and make sure its not activating the rear brakes. Sometimes that can goof up the ABS computer.

Thanks, Ken. But the parking brake lever is all the way down. Any other thoughts?

Well its not just the lever. It could be all the way down but the cable is too tight and thus gripping the rear discs. Just a thought.

Since its a 3.2 (just noticed your signature) you could try

http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulletin/

The Legends have many similar if not the same parts in our cars. Its worth a try as they are mostly higher mileage cars and thus have more problems. Others I'm sure have had a problem with the ABS.

Clicker here... Most likely you'll have to fill out/select your car by using the down arrows then go to ABS thingy... This is a good site that has the schematics of everything with prices... so you can kinda get an idea of what it will cost you at the dealership... that is if you aren't under warrenty/guarrenty... then it's practicly free... or maybe might be a recall but doubt it because you're the first one that i've heard has this problem...

Oh and about this site... i think the dealership uses it because when i went to the dealer today in the morning 8:00 a.m. i was looking at how they were ordering the part i needed (fuel injector w/ gaskets $121.00) and the schematics that are on that site are the same that were on the dealerships computer...

Good luck with the ABS...

Thanks, guys!! My dad will take it to the Honda specialist shop tomorrow (I'm at school 2 hours away) and see what the problem is. I kept thinking it's a sensor or something but the thing I don't understand is why would the clicking sound, which sounded like baseball cards trick with bicycle wheels. The sound only lasted for 2 seconds then the ABS light would turn on. I guess we'll see what they say tomorrow.

Alright, I got a call from the shop and they told me the light said there's a bad wheel sensor at the left rear wheel. So this is a lot better than what I've anticipated. $35 diag fee isn't bad either. :p

Alright...the saga continues. He didn't replace the sensor but he cleaned it and it worked fine but went ahead a do a flush in the brake system, the ABS system, and the tranny for $250. My dad went to pick the car up this morning and found that the ABS light was still on so the shop took it back and found another problem. The code came up with a bad accumulator and it would cost $156 to fix. Is he BS'ing me???

Damn it...I just bought this car and have already spent $250 on the car I just bought. I'm getting frustrated!!

if i were the mechanic and i was checking it just because i made you think i was a good guy, i'd unscrew a bolt and say your tranny is messed up and that it needs adjustment... but to adjust it it'll cost your $300.00 flat... then i'll ask if you would like to do it now... ... so you wouldn't have a choice but to pay me $300.00, so then i'll just go back sit down and drink a beer for 2 to 3 hours then tighten the bolt... just an example... you see where i'm getting at though...

Just letting you know because it happened to me with the exhaust thing... I knew my exhaust manifold was damaged somehow and i went to an Import Specialist (specializes on imports)... they told me they ran it through this new high tech machine etc... well they told me that it was my intake manifold gaskets that were torn/broken... i ended up paying about $250.00 to $300.00 for nothing... but i did get the new gaskets in the intake manifold... but my exhaust still sounds like crap...

Well, good luck... hope everything turns out well... keep us posted on how it goes...
I'm quoteing myself from a different thread but the example i posted is basicly the same... I wouldn't be able to help you by saying yes or no to your question nor know how to fix your ride man... but you can kinda call this a "Service Anouncement"... lol...

Well, it's the accumulator. After $556 later, the ABS light is off now. He also changed the brake fluids in the ABS and brake system. But now, I have another problem. When I push the brake pedal, the pressure is there, then 5 seconds later, the pedal starts getting softer and softer and before ya know it, the pedal is on the floor. When I released the brake pedal then push it back down, the pressure is there again, then the pedal slowly moves to the floor again. I'm suspecting air in the brake lines. I guess I'll bring it back to him when I get home from school in a week or so.
