98 3.2TL remote trunk release

i never thought about this till now (and ive had my TL for like 6 months) but... i just noticed in my trunk i got 2 different sets of wires running to where the trunk latch is. one is the floor driver side release id assume but whats the other? i have a code alarm 4 botton car starter that locks and unlocks the doors also so im thinkin they prolly ran it to unlock the trunk? yall wouldnt know that prolly but does the 98 3.2 come with a trunk release on the remotes? thanks

It doesnt on the stock remote, but you could install a solenoid for an aftermarket remote.

Our car's trunk release latch is not electronic. By electronic, I mean its not a motor where you supply power to it, and viola, it opens.
Ours is a mechanical one where we pull a cable to activate the latch to open the trunk. Kindof like you turn the door knob to open the door.

Now lets answer your question.
Wtf is a solenoid?
Its a mechanical device that pulls sh*t when you supply it power.
Its a small metal ccontainer with a rope that sticks out on it's side. When power is supplied, the magnet inside contracts and pulls the rope inward.

So by now you can probably see how its going to help open our trunk.
And heres how you install the sucker.
In our trunk, when you take the felt covers off under the trunk door, theres a metal stick that goes in and out when you turn the key. If you pull it sideways, it opens the trunk latch. So, mount the solenoid next to the metal stick and somehow tie the rope from the solenoid to it so that when the solenoid activates, it pulls the metal stick to open the trunk.

Heres a picture of the solenoid, notice the rope. it also comes with an external switch to activate it inside the car. I beleive Circuit City sells it too. Its in the back garage where they install the amps/alarms. Just have to ask for it. Goodluck.
