There are 4 tweeters, check near the A pillars in the front (near the windshield, they'll be in the corners) 2 tweeters next to the front lightswitch (between the visors) 2 in the front doors and 2 on the rear under the rear glass.

now to put in a new head unit
what are the resistances' of the speakers in the TL?
are they all 4 ohm?
or are they ran in series or something like that?

is it possible to get all 8 speakers to work with an aftermarket headunit?

I believe they r 4 ohms. As to running the tweeters, you can splice the wires to power them.
I using aftermarket speakers in the doors and the back. The highs are more than I can bear, so I don't think it's neccessary to hook up the stock tweeters.

They're just loud enough to 'move' the sound away from the doors - this way it seems like the sound is all around you. They should be much lower than the door spkrs...

Replacing the Speakers on my 96 Acura 3.2 tl

I decided to get an all new sound system for my acura and ended up getting

Kicker DS693
Kicker DS6.2

now all I need is a head unit that I can connect my ipod to and that can power all these speakers. I am also looking to stay relatively cheap! Thanks

That separate blue plug is the tweeters. just wire it into your wires for the door speakers. I have all 4 tweeters replaced along with doors an deck speakers running from headunit it sounds beautiful with my 15 RE SE

The roof speakers are mids, not tweeters.

From Acura:
Audio System

The standard audio system in all TL models is an 8-speaker unit with AM/FM stereo/cassette and compact disc player. Speaker selection and location were determined on the basis of the best sound propagation and imaging. There are two 6x9-inch full-range speakers on the rear deck, one 6.5inch full-range speaker mounted on each front door, two 1.5-inch tweeters on the dash top and two 2-inch midrange speakers located in the headliner.

An anti-theft feature renders the unit inoperative if it is removed from the car, until the proper five-digit security code is entered. The system also features a built-in CD control in case the owner chooses to install the optional trunk-mounted CD changer.
