3.2 tl Exhaust Manifold

Hi i am new to the forum, first of all great info on here, u guys r great. I recently purchased a 1997 3.2tl with 165k on it. Ive always love the body style and always wanted one finally got it in great condition. It had some issues replaced the muffler and part of exhaust pipe. I got the low egr flow code so my nephew and I took out the intake and cleaned the whole thing, man it was a lot of crap in there but now its clean and best of all no check engine light Although one of the bolts broke while taking apart the intake, had to take it to a machine shop to get bolt removed and rethread, It wasnt that bad of a job. Now i have a problem. Im getting a ticking sound coming from my pass. side exhaust manifold, took it to midas where I changed my muffler and the guy told me it my be the exhaust manifold gasket or the manifold itself, which I already figured but I guess we cant know til its off. He gave me a pretty expensive quote even if i was just having the gasket replaced so I have a few questions:

1: How difficult a job is it to remove the exhaust manifold myself at home? Does anyone have a diagram on how to do this?

2: Ive considered buying a used exhaust maniflod if I can find one, is that a bad idea?

3: Is it possible to use an exhaust manifold off of an 91-95 legend 3.2l? Ive been reading and it seems like its the same engine and I have seen used exhaust manifolds for sale for the legends that look really affordable.

Any help would be appreciated, remember I'm new here so Im just trying to weigh out my options. I am mechanically inclined so I'm willing to try to do this myself first b4 going back to midas seems really expensive to get new manifold and labor is costly. Thanks guys

Welcome. If the ticking goes away after your exhaust warms up, it's the manifold gasket. If it's still there after heating up, it's the mid-pipe gasket. To change the exhaust manifolds, the motor has to be tipped forward, hence the expensive quote.

Yes, it should be. Try tightening the bolts first, though, since they can be reached with long extensions, and it doesn't involve tipping the motor to access them.

I used a flat head that was sharpened on the ground, and a hammer. Hammer it in, then tilt it a bit, and hammer it while turning slightly. That should get it out.
