2003 Acura CL: Acura breathes new spark into the CL for 2003 with abundant styling and mechanical enhancements. While all 2003 CL models are powered by 3.2-liter 24-valve all-aluminum V-6 VTEC engines, the Type-S model bumps output from 225 horsepower to 260 and will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed Sequential SportShift automatic. Coupes fitted with the six-speed stick shift also benefit from a new limited-slip differential.

2003 Acura TL: For the 2003 model year, all TL models equipped with the optional Acura Satellite-Linked Navigation System receive the OnStar in-vehicle communications service as standard equipment. In addition, two new exterior colors, Desert Mist and Royal Ruby, will be available beginning in Fall 2002. Both TL models are now on sale at Acura dealers nationwide.

2003 Acura MDX: Displacement bumped, likely to 3.8 liters.

2003 Acura NSX: Japanese super car to be powered by a 3.5-liter V-8 engine producing in neighborhood of 400 horsepower.

2003 Acura RL: Luxury sedan to be redesigned in rear-drive configuration. Originally planned as a V-8, Honda officials may stick with a V-6.

 

2003 Honda Accord: Redesign, both coupe and sedan. Bigger, better, more powerful reflecting growth of the Civic. Sporty coupe variant helps cover the territory.

2003 Honda Civic Hybrid: Honda has equipped the Civic sedan with the second-generation Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system, packaging hybrid efficiency in a mainstream five-seater headed for production. The system combines a 1.3-liter gasoline engine with an ultra-thin, DC brushless motor and sophisticated powertrain management to achieve Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle status with minimal compromises. The electric motor assists the engine during acceleration and under heavy load, turning off in low-demand conditions. Compared to the Insight's systems, the battery modules and other hardware have been reduced 30-40 percent in weight and volume. The system components are packaged both underhood and tight against the rear seat, leaving considerable trunk space available. This 2003 model Civic will go on sale in spring 2002.

2003 Honda Element : Honda will build a Model X-based crossover vehicle at its Chicago plant beginning late 2002. Falling somewhere between minivan and SUV, the Civic-derived Element would target young men with an active-lifestyle.

2003 Honda Pilot:
Bearing a family resemblance to the new CR-V, the much larger Pilot also shares its Honda sensibilities, with a clean interior design and foldaway third-row seat. Cargo space is quite generous in two-row mode, besting most competitors. Power for the Passport-dwarfing SUV comes from a 3.5-liter V-6 matched with a five-speed automatic transmission. Off-road credentials include full-time four-wheel drive, electronically locking rear differential, and over eight inches of ground clearance. The Pilot is the platform mate to both the Odyssey and Acura MDX.
