Hi:

I have a 1996 3.5 RL w/ 120,000 miles. It has been running well and has been generally well maintained by me. Its last radiator flush was about 3 years ago when timing belt was changed, etc. It still have original radiator.

Today we noticed that warm/hot air was coming out of the a/c vents. This was so w/ A/C on "on" or "econ" mode or even off w/ just outside vent and temp. control all the way towards cool.

The temp. gauge on the dash was normal, not showing any heating going on.

Can any one comment on what may be going on here? To make matters worse I have had some trouble opening the hood of late as the safety latch has been hard to release by working hands under the grill.

My son has the car at college about 90 miles away, would be it be safe to drive it home so my mechanic can take a look?

When the ac is "on" is the compressor engaged in the engine bay?


It might be something electrical (bad module etc) in the HVAC
