switchblade key for rl
switchblade key for rl
i was wondering if there was a way to make one of the acura switchblade keys work for an 04 RL
this is just one key i found online

Well, I suppose it IS possible, but I reckon it'd be rather difficult. See, for one, the 2004 RL was the last RL to have a key needed for ignition. Although I'm sure there is one for the glove box or valet, or whatever. So, you are bringing in newer tech to a car that never was meant to have it, even on the newer models. So, that leaves retrofitting something to work. Unless the TL and TSK keys have the same transmitter as the 2004 RL remote does, I doubt it will work. Also, if you do do this, you will have to get a key with a transponder in it, but hardly the hardest part.
But, if I can tell you my opinion. My dad has a 2008 TL, with a switchblade key, and he HATES the damn thing. Always talking about how it opens up in his pocket on its own. I can say too, that there is something somewhat more unwieldy about it. What I love about the separate key and remote is that I can just take the key if I am going somewhere I need to have it, but will get wet. For instance, we go tubing on a local river during the summer, if I had a switchblade key, I would not be able to take the key with me during the tubing. But, just my

thanks for the input guys i have looked at a couple acuras was looking to switch to an rdx and they had switchblade keys and it was falling apart. as well as i didnt think of it opening up in my pocket which i think id prolly have the same problem. so i think i have changed my mind on it. and am sticking with the separate key. thanks for your guys .02 !
Of course! You are now richer by 4 cents!
I figure I might as well mention this to you, while we are talking about keys. You can actually get a S2000 push button ignition, put it in where the cigarette lighter is. But the only catch is you still have to put the key in the ignition. This project is only if you like space ship, fighter pilot stuff where you have more buttons to press, etc.
I think I might actually do this, come to think of it!
