Gurus,

While doing my oil change service in jiffy lube, they spotted some wear (like belt is little damaged near the outer edges)..i mean cmon i have 98 RL..so it is like 10yrs old car....

the guy was insisting to change that "Surpentine Belt" which has wear/tear across the edges for abt $100..i also had a close look at it.....

guys - pl advise.. Is changing the belt so important..or does it happens to first gen RL's??

 

100 dollars?!?! wow. I know i had mine done when i had the water pump done, other wise i would have done them myself. Yes it its important to have them changed( theres 3 drive belts i believe...maybe 2) I just changed one on a jeep( i know its alot different than our acuras) but the belt only cost me 20 dollars and about 30 minutes to do.

 

ok i looked in the service manual and there are three belts, the alternator belt, ac belt and the pump belts. Maybe thats why its so expensive?
