Angry Starting problems

My 2004 Acura RL, is 9 months old, it has had problems starting/cranking since I bought it. They have replaced everything possible and it still will not start at least 15 times a month. The problem is with the computer ignition system and not the engine. I also have problems with the SRS system failing. It has done that 4 times already and they have replaced it 3 times so far. Another issue I have is I wrecked my car because the stabilizing bar sheared in half and I lost control of the car taking out a mailbox in the process. The CD player has been replaced once, the seatbelts have been replaced once. The airvents have been replaced once. All in all.. my 2004 RL has spent more time in the shop then it has on the road. I am so disheartened because I have heard so many wonderful things about Acura RL's.. has anyone else ever heard of any of these things? I am at this point considering filing a lemon claim on the vehicle. What are your thoughts?

File a lemon complaint. There is no excuse for a 2004 RL to have problems like that.

Thanks for the replies.. I will keep you informed. The dealership is suppose to call Tech support line in California today for guidance as they are fresh out of ideas on how to solve the problem. I have an idea for them.. take the car back!

Well tech support told them to replace the relay in the fuel line? I am proceeding with the lemon application anyway..

My thoughts? WOW. First time i heard about an RL having that many issues. I would say lemon it. IF you dont want to deal with that hassle then let me replace the fuel line and dump the car.

RL's are incredibly reliable, most thanks to a very refined design (as in very much the same since 1999!) So in theory, a 2004 RL should be the MOST reliable.

Double I'm really, really, surprised to hear about all your problems. Don't let this experience put a bad taste in your mouth for the Acura brand. This is the only RL lemon experience I have ever heard of...

Thanks everyone! Well here is another update. Since they replaced that ignition relay it hasn't had anymore starting problems. (Fingers and Toes crossed). I really hope my Roxy (that's my RL's name) is fixed for good this time because I truly love my car! However per Texas Lemon Law it only takes 1 more time for the ignition or SRS to fail and it will officially be a lemon.. of course after I go through the process of having the State declare it one.

Look on the bright side--if it is declared a lemon, you could always get a 2005 RL

That is very true! However after reading some in the second generation page I think I will wait for the '06 so they can get the bugs out.

acura ignition problems

Have the same issue as scwsmom - exactly. car in dealership now- nobody has a clue. just called to check the ignition relay just like you mentioned & hopefully this will be corrected. Did your RL stay fixed after that ig relay was changed? I have an RL 3.5 2000 which seems perfect otherwise, thanks for any info.
