Well I'm not sure anymore. I'd love to get an 04 and get some nice rims for it, drop it and just have a nice cruising car. So well see in the summer. And i guess our winter is supposed to get bad in January but who knows. I'm curious to see how my cat performs with a decent set of tires.

Broke down and bought some hub caps last night. Couldn't stand the steel wheel look anymore. Changed out my fog light bulb and got a car wash. Car is in the garage and I'll wax it tomorrow. It's been a while since I've shown the RL some love.

You are the second person to reference the spinner hub caps. Haha. No I did not.

Merry Christmas!

Finally got it waxed up. Amazing how the car has held up over the years, the interior has held up MUCH better than my GS which is newer and has less miles on it.

Like the hubcaps?

Wow, that's mint!

I wish they still over-engineered cars like they did with the 1st gen RL, TL and pre-6th gen Accords.

Hubcaps look good.

I think the interior holds up so well for an accidental reason. They wanted to reduce the amount of the plasticizers in the leather that ended up on the windshield and so made them evaporate slower. This also meant that they stayed in the leather longer and, as a result, it actually looks good 10 years on. Are they still using this technology in current Acuras?

She's not mint, but def in good shape. Probably going up for sale soon, need to decide on what the wife wants. She wants a GX470 but honestly, we just don't need anything this big and expensive right now.

LOL! You've said that so often that it's lost all meaning. I'm calling your bluff.

You're likely going to keep that RL till the wheels fall off

Really though, that GX is no joke. I test drove a used one at a Toyota dealership and it was incredible. VERY torquey, smooth, and truck-like at the same time. To be honest, the 3rd row seats are useless though. If you buy an older GX, make sure you update the tail lights to the clear turn signals included on newer models. Looks so clean, especially on darker colors! Stay away from the 04's- read consumer reports and you'll see why.

Im surprised she wasn't looking at an RX (330, or 350); smoother riding, more fuel efficient, better handling, better interior (IMO) and faster!

I know I've said it a lot but we are now expecting () and I should sign an offer this week for a new job ()
Jan 10 marks 2 years since I bought the RL. This is the longest I've owned a car since high school.

She drives 20 miles to work each way through back roads and will be taking the kid to daycare at her work. I need something newer than the RL.

I dragged her to go test driving yesterday. We drove a Prius(something she has always wanted), a 2009 Highlander Limited and a 2009 Pilot. The Pilot wins in all categories so now I am on a quest to find a nice 2009-2010 EX-L one owner for a decent price. I liked it way more than the GX, RX, MDX, etc.

Btw they offered $4800 for the RL on trade.

No nav. I've never trade in a car and am not planning on doing it now. I'm going to list it for somewhere around $6K once I find the right car, which is getting to be somewhat difficult.

A coupe would have been amazing...as would the wagon. I think the coupe would have sold alot more as it would of appealed to a wider consumer group. I would have bought one. And pair it with a 6 speed...that would have been nice....pipe dreams though

It makes no sense considering the target demographic with the car, but yeah a manual transmission would have been nice. My dad used to own a manual Acura Vigor. 5 cylinders, 5 speeds, great fun!

Coupe looks good too.

That 2.5 I5 was a great engine. I had 2 first gen TL's. Both were great cars and lots of torque!

If they made a coupe, i dont think it would have been targeted at the same demographic as the sedan.

The Legend had a coupe, and TL had a coupe, I imagine Acura knew what they were doing when they didn't give the RL a coupe. That said, somewhat surprising it didn't get a coupe for a three year run at some point in the last 17 years.

I really like how the (first gen.) RL has only 1 option, makes them a lot easier to shop for and also makes me thing probably increases build quality because the line guys aren't constantly having to remind themselves what exact options are on any individual vehicle.

Just curious, as I filled up $70 worth of gas today....

1) What tire pressure are you running (PSI)?
2) How many MPG are you getting?

You guessed it, I'm looking for a correlation here. Thinking of filling mine up to 38-40 PSI..

Well i'm not stock so it probably won't matter... 45 psi on stretched tires, getting about 19-20 average.

Is it worth it in your opinion to go upto 40 or 42 psi to eek out another 1mpg or so? I noticed that my michelin hydroedges have a psi rating that is much higher than the psi rating on our door jamb.

And it would handle better, no?

I run mine at 38psi fronts and 35psi rears....a little rough compared to stock but feels more solid and perhaps a 1-2 mpg more.

Nice legend.

Can anyone diagnose this? Whenever I turn left to right or vice versa, i.e. transferring the weight of the car, OR I go over certain (not all) bumps, I hear a thump or hitting sound in the rear of the car. I never thought it was a big deal and after re-setting the spare tire and removing everything from the trunk I just gave up on the sound.

But just today I slammed the passenger door shut and heard a sound like pressurized air releasing for like half a second. I rocked the car a little bit to move the suspension and i can hear the same hissing sound from the right rear wheel.

What can this be? today it rained for the first time in a while but for whatever reason I don't think the rain had anything to do with it.

vas25tl, thank for sharing the pictures. I like how the rub it in by moving it into the snow before taking the pictures--as if that car has been out in the snow before.

How is the leather still mint?

Have you looked at the rear suspension? Maybe you have a blown strut.

I get about 18 mpg or 250 miles per tank. I'm running 36f 34r and the tires are fallen fk452 245/35-19. Mostly short trips on mine though. Stay away from performance summer tires and that alone should net you an mpg or two.

Vas25tl my wife nets me 17 sometimes 16mpg. She drives mostly highway to work too. Lol

Wow, and I was unhappy with 21 mpg lol! I'm thinking I will try 40/38 and see what happens.

I heard that if you live in an area with a lot of potholes, oem tire pressure will net you the best mpg. However, on hypermiler and prius hybrid forums, results have shown that if the road is relatively smooth, you can pick up an extra 1-3 mpg.

Great, I just installed a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW lol, 32 front and 30 rear, hope it doesnt get worst than 16mpg!
Anyway, on my previous all seasons tires i'm getting 15~16mpg. I make a lot of short trips, school and work are really close to my house and my one way trip is less than 6 miles.BTW, dose anyone know that tire shine is bad for tires? The reason i'm asking is because my previous Hankook all seasons tires have crack on the outside of the tires (it also spent a couple months in the garage collecting dust). I don't know is it the tire shine that causes this or the tire itself.
