Aren't the OEMs only $60 at the dealer/online? Is that really that bad for a HID bulb?

What about online, i.e. rockauto? I recently checked over there and I thought I saw $60ish. Even with overnight, you should do better than your local dealer.

Get some Philips D2S off of ebay. Make sure and replace in pairs or your color will be off.

My favorite quote from that ebay link, "If you are paying less than $90.00 plus shipping for 1 Philips 6000K bulb it is most likely fake or used." This is on a page selling a pair for $60.

I had no idea there was such a huge difference in bulbs by manufacturer.

What brand are the OEMs and what don't people like about the GEs?

My fault, I noticed that is for 6k bulbs and they are selling 4.1-4.3 k bulbs at that link.

I use my low beams as DRLs and am now wondering about the sanity of that, given the price of the Philips. Be sure to check back in later as to what seller you used and how the bulbs look/work.

My wife did this too in our 01 TL. After 6 and a half years, the bulbs were still working. You should see about 2000 hours out of HID bulbs (Philips/Osram).

I used the Maguiers one and it worked well. If I had to buy another, it would be the the 3M. I think it is a better product. Good luck!

My bad!! I forgot these are not projector lamps. You need to find D2R like these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-2-New-O...item45f7e32ccb

I apologize for the confusion. I am so used to D2S since that is what is in my other cars. D2R for reflector housings.

Hey no worries I had already purchased my bulbs prior to seeing your post on here. I used another seller and brought D2R bulbs but according to the seller you listed the ones I actually purchased are probably knock off's but as long as they work I am cool. here is a link to the seller I used http://www.ebay.com/itm/Philips-D2R-...item2a0f914296

Cant wait to get the bulbs and the 3m kit. Til then I am riding daytime only since one of my headlights went out. Got an 02 TL and never had the headlights go out go figure. Gonna also cop me one of those Porter Cable 7424 polishers this month also. Then look for some new rims this winter hopefully I can find some chrome Acura OEM rims that look nice to put on the car this Spring.

They have photographs of the real thing at the Philips site. But who knows, there might be differences depending on destination country or date of manufacturer.

Tried several headlight restoration systems. 3M was hands-down the best. They actually look and perform like new. Just be very careful of the surrounding paint.

I highly recommend ordering OEM in the future. We also have site vendors on here that will get you great deals on all OEM parts. Their prices can't be beat.

DRS_RL2004, how long between polishing with the 3M?

princelybug, I assume the OEM is Osram, is there a place you can get a reasonable price on that?

Ask any of our vendors. Both AckTL05 and acurapartssource offer excellent pricing on here. OEMAcuraPartsTim also sells OEM parts at good prices.

3M Polishing times

pdbailey. This is the first time I used 3M and first time I polished. Its been 6 months and see no degradation. Took approx. 1/2 hr per side. I'm stating the obvious , but need to be very careful with paint. I couldn't control the drill as well as I expected. I used 2 layers of duct tape to protect the paint and am glad I did. Kit cost approx. $23 or so from memory. Good luck.

I have some pits in my lenses (look like small white dots). Did you have any? If so, did the 3M kit remove them?

3M headlight haze and pit removal

pdbailey: does a fantastic job of removing haze. I really didn't have any deep pits, but think of sanding wood as this is what the kits actually does is sand through material you want to remove. You sand through the haze and anything else until you're satisfied with the results. Just like with woood you sand to a smooth finish and sand a little more (I would think, but didn't do) if you want to go a little deeper and get some of the pits. There are successive grit disks that you use. Its really fairly easy and mistake proof. You are wet sanding (use a spray water bottle to keep the surface wet). Best advice is as I said before, be mindful of the paint. Good luck and keep us posted. I honestly couldn't believe the results they were that good.

Same here just installed the new headlight bulbs yesterday and used the 3M headlight restoration kit. I highly recommend the 3M kit my headlights look like new! Imma do the same for my TL today it should take a little longer because the headlights on the TL a really hazy. Like already mentioned make sure you tape around the edges well. I got my 3M kit off of Ebay for under $15 including shipping...
