Rear Window Regulator Removal

Can someone tell me how the regulator should be removed for both passenger and driver side rear windows? Also, could someone recommend a place to find a rebuilt OEM regulator for a decent price? Thank you.

Remove the door panels, remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the glass in place to the drive mechanism. Then there are the 1 or 2 bolts at the bottom and 1 or 2 bolts at the top. It will come out, just work it around and it will slide out through the hole.

The worst part about the whole ordeal is the sticky "cr*p" they use to hold the plastic weather sheild in place. It gets on everything!

Be sure when you reinstall the drive mechanism that you get some Sylglide to lubricate the window tracks so the glass slides easily.

These drive mechanisms are junk in my opinion. I had mine rebuilt and they worked perfectly. Then a few months later the glass was sticking in runners and the cables broke again. The new owner put in some new mechanisms.

Bad design IMHO...The cable and regulator are only sold together by dealer. It's the cable that usually binds up (twice on my 96RL) I found them online for cheap a while ago. I'll have to look and get back to you - I think the rear was like $87 and change as opposed to $3-400 range at dealer.

If you can get the door panel off, the regulator is simple. Two 10mm bolts hold the window to the regulator. There are holes in the lower portion of the door that line up with the 2 bolts ( window has to be at approx 1/3 up from lowest level ). After you remove the 2 bolts, close the window by hand ( it should slide in the run channel ). To hold the window up, use a piece of masking tape ( large piece ). Stick the tape to the inside of the window, wrap over the top of the door, stick to the outside of the window. Disconnect the plug for the regulator. Remove the four 10mm bolts holding the regulator ( two near the top, two near the bottom ). Remove 3 bolts holding the motor in place. Everything will fall inside the door, but is easy to remove. When the window is up and the regulator is removed it is a good time to lube the run channel. Use only a silicone based spray. Petroleum based products will absorb into the run channel and make it gooey.

Are there any Honda regulators compatible with 3.5RL?

Does anybody know if the Accord regulators are the same ones used in the 3.5RL? I have a 1998 Premium and I would rather pull regulators from Hondas than buy factory or replacement.
