rear passenger window not operating

I own a '98RL with a rear window not going up or down. Motor is working but cables are frayed and what appears to be a white plastic clip at top of frame which holds everything in place, is broken.
Can cables and this clip be replaced without replacing motor or is it all one unit? Also, how does one disconnect the cables from the window frame unit? Its a very tight space and I can't figure out how to get the frame part out.
Thanks for any tips anyone may have.

Bob

You can replace the cables but its a pain and expensive. I just put a clamp around the cable with the window up so it is non functional which I never use this one.

First get the windows closed by manhandling pushing them up, its tough but it should slide up. Take the panel off and hidden away in the middle behind a metal frame is the coil with the wire that pulls the window up and down. You have to get a 9inch adjustable clamp like the ones for radiator hoses and put it around the coil and tighten it. This will stop the coil and keep the window from going down. Its very hidden and hard, if you can't get in there take it to a garage and have them do it. It will cost some labor about $100 but its better than $300 for a new coil per window.

Rear windows not working

I, too, have two non-operable rear windows on my 1996 3.5RL. When someone has inadvertently tried to lower one of the windows, I've always been able to manually pull the window back up to the closed position. Today, I wasn't so
fortunate. As hard as I pull, the window will only close half way. Can you tell me how to remove the inside door panel so I can access the cables and motor?

Thanks.

munionman,
Go to www.pdftown.com and search on "acura rl". Download the 40 MB tech manual. Lots of diagrams and instructions....

I replaced the regulators at least 6 times on all my windows together.

So what I finally did with the back ones was to mark where the window sits on the guide bar and then bolt it into place. lets just say, no more window movement
