Last year I posted asking about clocksprings which I know are discontinued.
What other parts that commonly need replacing are basically no longer available new?
Also, it's my impression that much of the increased HP in the 2002-2004 is due to a variable muffler. Can those mufflers still be purchased?

If the 'variable muffler' was factory installed then you'll find it 'discontinued'. Take the OEM part number and google search, this is one of the results.

Interesting, for some reason I had this idea that the variable-ness of the muffler would be some electronic gizmo but of course it is probably just a flap inside the muffler that swings open when the pressure increases from open throttle.
I was curious because it seems almost all of the increased power from the 2002+ models is from the special muffler so if they were no longer available there would no longer be any power advantage from 2002+ once the muffler needs replacing.
The power increase wasn't just the muffler. Think on one of the old promotional materials it states that they changed ignition timing in 02'. However, most of the power advantage is probably gone. I think API makes an equivalent muffler, but I don't know if it has the valve. It states 2002-2004 for vehicle fitment and sounds very similar to the OG muffler before it went bad. Funnily enough, it is a little quieter than the OG muffler was.
Its not the muffler its the compression ratio and the camshaft profile if I remember correctly what I did is modify my intake to attach a cone type filter the difference is notable
Not true. Camshaft is identical between all years and trim levels. https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...0-p5a-000.html. Also, compression ratio is the same for all C35a engines at 9.6:1. It is also identical to the 2G Legends C32A compression ratio.
Guess I'll add an item now that I own an RL and have been looking at things:
Throttle Position Sensor is not available new, used only. In fact I see it's not even listed as a part on car-part.com so I guess you have to buy a whole used throttle body.
