In my 2002 RL I have had a multi cylinder missfire for several weeks now. The shop had the car for several days and can't find the problem so I may have to take it to the Acura dealer to see if they have encountered this before.

The following have been done. New plugs, EGR system cleaned, coil check and swap check, extensive computer diagnostics and diagnostics by the mechanics and they can't find the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the remedy. Please, no suggestions for basic diagnostics as the mechanics have tried all of those. I need a solution or fix from someone who has had this problem fixed.

 

Never heard of that personally, but feel your pain. Sounds like all the first steps were taken by a decent repair shop?

Was the engine checked for physical damage? ( good compression and leakdown)


I take it there is no CEL or it could hae been easy.

Is there any history about this car you could give? (owner/maintanace etc)

from your brief description sounds like some odd wiring problem mmaybe.

 

Problem came out of the blue. First indications of the missfire was that the engine was running rough and the check engine light was blinking and the VSA light was on and off. I took it to my modern shop and they diagnosed the multi cylinder missfire with the computer and codes. They checked it for two days but could not find the problem. It is more than likely electrical.

I will probably have to take it to tha Acura dealer with the hopes that they have seen this problem before. The car has 130,000 miles on it and been properly maintained and has run flawlessly since new. Other than the fuel relay going bad that this board helped me diagnose.
