Keys

I had a key made the other day and it would power the electrics, byt would not turn over the motor. Someone told me that the key was special and was more than just a metal blank.

They told me they were real expensive from the dealer, and you could buy them on e-bay. I found some that say NSX RL '97, which is my year. Are these the special ones that I need? Thanks............

Your car has an immobilizer system (they referred to it as an "Immobilizer with anti-start code"), which means you do need that "special" key. It has a little chip in it which stores and transmits a security code. Call your dealer and see if they'll program a key for ya. Good luck!

You can get a chipped key cut and programmed at the dealer for $25. At least thats how much they were about a year ago. Just needed to provide the VIN number to get it cut
