Keys and ......

I bought a 2002 RL back in April, but I'm having problems with my keys. Sometimes when I put it in the ignition and turn, dash lights up, but that's it, I have to turn back to off, then turn it again to start. Happens twice a week, and is becoming a pain in the a**. The other keys that were given to me, don't fit as smooth in the ignition, should I take it back to the dealer to get keys recut, or reprogrammed ? ? ? Please help. BTW I'm interested in coming to the DC area meet on the 12th. I bought my car from Radley Acura in Baileys crossroads, but I live in Silver Spring. Which dealer does anyone recommend to take it for service Rosenthal or Ticsher ? ? ? Radley is just too far out of my way.

Ignition not responding to key start

Just recently purchased a used 2002 RL w/ 83k in very good condition. Only problem is that ocasionally, ignition does not respond to key 'start' position. When key is turned to start position, system seems to respond to start circuit by powering down radio and fan, but starter does not crank? Green key icon on dash left is blinking. If I remove key, open door the green blinking key goes out. Retry of same and seems to work ok. What causes this, bad computer?

Could be a slow recognition of the key by the theft protection system. Try turning to the "on" position then waiting for a couple of seconds prior to turning to "start". I've had this behavior for the past few years with my 98 RL, and several others have reported it also.

I have this problem too, RL98 is right. Just turn the key to accessory position (instrument lights come on) and wait a little longer than normal.

check your battery, clean the posts and the battery terminals... our cars are really sensitive to even the slightest voltage drop or increase in resistance...

This is a common problem and I have not found a fix for it. Have replaced Main Relay as per recommendation here and it still happens. Acura should have fixed this problem correctly the first time. Ever since I have owned the car I have been out of warranty so I dont bother going to the dealerships.
