Hid kit?!?
Hid kit?!?
Just ordered an HID kit for my fog lights but have noticed when I take out the fog lights on a 2000 RL the factory power wire kinda looks like a power socket in your house. How will this be a plug and play? Is there something im missing?
I'm not sure if this is the best explanation because I am only going off the information that you told me in the post. But, I don't think it should be all that hard to wire in.
See, I recently crashed my 98 RL and got another 98 RL to replace it. I took the horn and about 10 inches of wire from the the old car and put it on the new car. Even though the wires were not there previously, I could tie into the wire of the new car to wire in the new horn. So now I have two horns that come from the same wire a branch off and go to the separate horns. Now, here is where I believe it relates to your situation. I had ends of two wires that would not "just plug in" anywhere to add another horn. But, they make these saddle-back type plug in things and they are great for tieing (tying?, whatever the present progressive form of to tie is) to wires together.
They look like this:

I hope this helps. So your new lights with wires at the end you can put this splice thing on it to connect your lights to your hot wire and your ground wire.
Basic understandig of electricity should be it, unless this is a bigger project than I think it to be.
Maybe you can post some pictures if you are still having trouble to help me better understand.

I know when I bought my hid kit for my fog lights all I did was plug the negative and positive wires coming from the hid unit or light whichever one it was into the fog light socket itself and it worked hope this helps you solve the problem
you will need an H3 HID bulb and these little adapters you can get on ebay to help hold the bulb in place which i highly recommend for bulb longevity...
as for wiring, check to see if the bulbs have spade connectors, (ala the little flat metal squares crimped on to the end of the wiring) if it has these, just stick them in the slots and tape in place and BAM! HID FOGS!!! plug the red bulb wire, in the slot that has the colored wire coming out the other end, and of course, black wire to the connector with the black wire out the back...
if there is no connector on the bulb wire then you can either cut off the bulb socket and use butt connectors and crimp together,
if you dont want to loose your socket, you can use an "in line connector" which clips the bulb wire with the socket wire without cutting...
