extremely fast battery drain

My sister has a 96 rl and it has run fine. She bought it almost 6 months ago and it has run great so far. Suddenly yesterday it dies while driving. I go out to her and find the battery COMPLETELY drained. 0 volts. Eventually I get it started with a jump and get it home. I let it sit on the trickle charger all night to no avail. I pulled the battery and let it charge and it seems to hold a charge. Tried another battery and i can watch the volts tick down as it is drained. So basically there is a short somewhere. I have sat by the car as it drained the battery looking for some tell tale signs of a short (smoke, smell, etc) and I figured there would be considering the amount of current whatever it is is drawing. Any ideas on what it could be? Anyone had this problem? I appreciate any information. Could it be the main relay?

that's gotta be alternator related then I believe....alternator is the only part that i know of that can drain the battery when the car is off.
