Hi folks, new to the site. '99 RL dashboard backlight out on one side. Is this an easy fix (replacing bulb) or some electronic gizmo?

Its an LED. You'll need to find out how to get the dashboard apart. Try to get an Acura shop manual.

 

It is a pretty simple bulb I am sure you can find at a junkyard. If you are going to go through the trouble of replacing one bulb, I would just go the LED route and order some off the internet and throw them all in at the same time. If one went out, I am sure another one is just waiting to go out.

I have the manual for the instrument cluster removal hosted online, I will post it later tonight or you can just do a search in the 1st gen RL section of the forums for posts by me...

 

LED route is nice! I would recommend that over the regular bulb.
