Check engine light and emmisions testing

I am in Ontario, Canada, I have to renew my plates and get a new emmisions testing done. I have my check engine light on for about 6 months now and never bothered to get it fixed.

Will this have any affect in my test?

The code is P0401 (80) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Insufficient Flow

I tried to call 2 different acura dealers and they gave me different quotes. from $300 to $600

Anyone have any ideas on this matter?

Your EGR valve just needs to be cleaned.. take it to a shop, its quite easy to do and should NOT cost $300 CDN !

Usually the first sign of a blocked EGR valve is poor fuel economy.

Where did you take it for cleaning?

I am not suffering any loss in gas mileage...

The RL is pretty easy to work on in this respect as well. My '97 TL has a very similar engine.
