I'm getting a banking sound coming from the rear of my 2002 RL. I get this whenever I ride over a decent bump, it sounds like something is banging around in the trunk. I have nothing in the trunk and checked the spare - it is secured well. I just got it back from the dealer and they found nothing, claiming no signs of problems.

So, anyone got a suggestion what this could be??

 

I have the same prob I think.

I just replaced my rear brakes and front driver side control arm this weekend & when we did the rear brakes I noticed that the Rear driver side Sway bar Link had snapped. This causes that noise you hear in the rear end.

The stealership is the only place I found it @ for $ 120 bucks or so.

Hope this helps. Also check the trailing arm thats right there, because those tend to go bad also.

 

There are aftermarket sway bar links selling on eBay. I bought a pair of front sway bar links at $36 (shipping included) and had replaced. A pair of rear sway bar links is selling at $40+.
