97 RL drive cycle
97 RL drive cycle
I've been trying for two months now, yes two months, four visits to the Nashville Vehicle Emissions Center to get my tags to no avail. Test readiness failures...
put in a new battery 10 days ago and even took it to the dealer yesterday to see if they could do anything about it or at least give me the drive cycle info to reset the system.
to no avail.
finally I got a 30 day waiver from the County Clerk today so I can at least not get ticketed for expired tags. I've seen another post with the supposed drive cycle info online but it's suspect.
Anyone out there have a clue for me about what to do?
The check engine light never comes on (other than it's normal blink at ignition),
the dealer found nothing wrong with the car, it's in great shape, it's just this friggin' OBD system....
HELP!!!! :

You can take it to an Acura dealer. If your car is under 150,000 miles and a 1996 or 1997, you qualify for an emissions recall. Acura has to fix any emissions issues until 150,000 miles
You also get a one time free service, with sparkplug change and oil change. If your ECU is having issues, it will be replaced free of charge.

the car had 155K when i took it to the Acura dealer here in Nashville 2 days ago.
They told me everything with the system was fine other than that the monitors needed to go through a drive cycle to reset the monitors. I asked them to check the entire car over and provide me a list of anything that needed attention, save for a pair of cracked power steering boot covers the car was in excellent condition.
So basically what I'm looking for on this forum is if anyone knows what that drive cycle might be. I found a book online that has an overview of drive cycles for quite a lot of models out there but I'm getting a little over paying out dough to get info that should be made readily available to people. The dealer told me they didn't know the cycle and seemed rather nonchalant about it, inferring that a combination of highway and city driving over a period of a week "or so" should do the trick.
I've been doing this for 3 months now.
I did find a rather specific drive cycle for a Volvo series online and it's not exactly the kind of driving you would necessarily do over a week "or so..."
this is getting really really frustrating.
