Hello Everyone -

Brand new to the Forum. New Owner, as of roughly 6 months go... of a 2002 Acura 3.5RL.... I luv this car. It rides practically brand new. Mileage when purchased, from a 2nd Owner, was just under 243,000. It is tan inside & out and comes with the Navigation System.

We've taken the car all over the place. Just before Thanksgiving last year, we drove it down to (1) Greenville, SC... for a James Taylor concert ... then (2) we drove over to Asheville, NC....to spend a couple of days visiting the Biltmore Estate. The car drove like it just came off the Showroom floor....flawless.

Here's the thing... the previous Owner never did update the DVD for the NAV System. So, in a couple of cases, we simply had to throw in some numbers, etc. We made do.

So, I was wondering where I could get a new-er DVD that has all the updated highway routes included and how much are they (not from the Dealer, folks)....?

Also - the 2nd Owner (A Car Dealer's wife) only had just one key... which thankfully does work for everything.
I went to the local Acura Dealer (here in Fishers, IN) and went ahead and purchased another KEY and REMOTE. But, I found out that the REMOTE needs to be programmed before it would work in the ignition .... sometimes I really hate NEW CARS, ...ya know what I mean?

WELL.... since I only have the ONE Key...I do not seem to have any way of programming the new one I just bought... which was over $200.

I thought I found someone (on the side) who could help me out... but he bowed out....

SO.... What's the best way to go out getting my new key programmed, when I do not have what the Dealer says I need? The Dealer was NO help whatsoever... and the previous Owner swears they do not have any others... I am currently searching for the original Owner...as we speak.

Would luv some guidance here.... anyone?

 

I have a 04, but never had to get keys for it. I am not clear. Why is the dealer not able to do anything for you?

 

According to the owners manual you need the god key (red) and the key number plate, the PO had both for me when i bought my car. They need those to program new keys.
