My black key will not turn in the ignition switch anymore and I have to turn my gray key 2 or 3 times before the car will start. I do not have a red key. I see ignition switches with keys for sale at auto salvage yards. If I replace my ignition switch in my car will I have to do anything else to get it to work? Thanks, Phil

 

I have this problem once in a while. I think is because the black key (master key I believe) is worn out. I switched to the gray key and is a lot better, but still it happens once in a while. How bad is your? If it still work, then I suggest you keep as it. If you change the ignition I think you need to go through the reprogramming process.

 

Thanks for the reply. My black key does not work at all anymore and I agree I think it is just because it is worn out. The gray key always works, but it may take 2 or 3 turns. I will get the keys with the used ignition switch, so what needs to be reprogrammed if I change the ignition switch? Thanks, Phil

 

I'm not really sure if you have to reprogram the unit. Give acura dealer a call or email them.

 

I believe you will need to reprogram the key(s) for the immobilizer at a dealer.
