1998 3.5RL Runaway Wipers

I tightened my wipers on my 1998 RL, checked the grooves on the wiper arms, and the wiper blades continue to extend too far and goes off the windshield and hit the bottom. However, it only does it intermittenly. I also checked the wiper motor area because I heard that the bushings sometime goes bad, but didn't see any noticeable problems. Can someone help?

I had the same problem and very little info on how to fix it. Here is the DIY I made over at acuralegend.com It was a simple inexpensive fix. Now they work perfect again.
