1996 RL - ODO Light Out
Having a Catch 22 warranty problem with Honda Motors.
I have gone up the chain to President of U.S. Honda regarding Code P0141 (Rear O2 Sensor Failure)
I discovered on this forum, this O2 sensor problem is under warranty until 150,000 miles.
With the odo light out, Honda (says they can't) can not verify the mileage.
I provided a maintenance receipt from 2007 showing the mileage at 97,362
Averaged, that is 8,851 miles per year for 11 years.
Well within the 150,000 warranty.
If after 11 years (as of 2007) I was only at 97,362 miles there is no way I put on 52,638 in 1 year!
President of Honda Motor U.S. has not been cooperative.
Hope Someone can help troubleshoot this problem.
The instrument panel lights are all working.
The only light out (thankfully) is the odo light.
The dealer said they would have to replace the whole light cluster and they could not guarantee that would fix would the problem and since the odo or cluster is not under warranty I would have to pay for the repairs before they could cover anything that MIGHT be under warranty.
The car is failing the emissions testing to get the car registered and I have been out of work 1 year. I just don't have the funds to pay for something that is supposed to be under warranty.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions?

I dont think that display has any bulbs to go out. ( I could be wrrong though) Its an electro luminouscent (sp) display I believe
You can try removing your gauge cluster and removing the display and looking for loose connections or faulty wires. Unfortunately you will have to completely disasemnle your gauge cluster.
Worst comes to worse you can swap out gauge clusters from one with similar milage
