You could also paint it. Thats what i did to mine. Its a simple job, you could even paint it without taking it off if you're careful.

Check Delray Acura, they have an online parts section.

I am thinking of having mine painted the OEM (black pearl) esp since the replacement part will more than likely peel and flake just like the original .... and all of the replacement parts I have seen run from $60-85 which isn't bad if I didn't think it would peel once more. I have a picture perfect paint job with this crazy looking peeling trim right below my rear window....

I have an '02 where that strip was peeling as well. I removed all of the black plastic, sanded it with fine sand paper, taped around it, primed it and spray painted it black. It looks normal and I did it with it on the car. You can only tell that I painted it if you get up close and know that I did it.

I just covered mine with electrical tape, I know its kinda lame but it worked perfectly. The sun baked it on, its water proof and its black.

Unfortunately it's a piss-poor design by Acura. The rear window trim piece does a great job of sealing against the trailing edge of the trunk lid an keeping the water out of the trunk channel. However, there is no way for the accumulated water/debris to drain off so it just eats away at the trim piece. I relpaced mine right after buying my RL. If you take the time to dry it off well after washing the car and wipe it down after rain storms it's easy to maintain it in "like-new" condition.

Same thing happened on my '99. I just sanded down the parts that was peeling and then spray painted it flat black. Looks almost good as new.

I bought a new one from the dealer, they are cheap and very easy to replace.

FYI it comes with the clips and you dont need to buy new ones (i bought clips not knowing)

I got the dealership I brought my car from to replace this item. When I got the car it was two years old and I had it for two years and it was still under warranty. I called Acura directly and filed a complaint. The Acura person working my case tried to ask me at what point is Acura not responsible....I replied that if this was Lexus I wouldn't have this problem. I had previously been part of a paid Acura internet consumer panel focusing on upgrading Acura's customer service to try to get it on par w/ Lexus, BMW etc so I used that in my favor. The new part was not like the original part...the new part is vinyl coated and works much better.
