Winter Tires for a 2010 RDX?
We are planning a few trips this winter through the Cascades. Looking to purchase winter tires and wheels for the 2010 RDX.
Tire Rack is recommending a minus size of 225/65-17 Blizzak DMV1 with the alloy wheels, the size drop is claimed to handle deeper snow better and is less money than the OEM size of 235/55-18.
As the RDX is all about handling, I was wondering if anyone has experience with this size of tire on the RDX.
During most of the winters where we live, the pavement is dry, icy or covered with small dry snowfalls. Winter tires being soft already, would hate to give up even more handling.

Good point. Forgot one of the main reasons we bought this model. Already giving up lots of handling with a winter tire, so will go with the 235/55-18.

Blizzaks > Conti DWS for pure snow driving.
If you are you going to do 2 setups then I'd definitely go with the Blizzaks. I have Conti DWS as daily's only A4 and they are good for all around but I switch out to Blizzaks in the winter.
Where you going in the Cascades? Snowboard/Ski trip? \

^Yes the studs were manditory for the wife , since she is the primary RDX snow driver. Otherwise, I would have bought the Blazzaks. The TL was going to be my ride, as her car was the RDX. A week after we got the TL her parking permit went in the back window and now I'm lucky if I even get to drive it on a beer run. So I don't get to play in the snow with the RDX, or carve up the summer pavement in the TL, WTF? Funny how that has worked out.

^Interesting. There are a couple of AZ members using 17's and I haven't heard any complaints, But???

I have Acura 17" steelies with 225/65-17's (Dunlop SJ6 studless winter tires) - works fine. The dealer though did add new TPMS on the steelies before installation.

i just put some stock sized Pirelli Scorpion ice and snow tires on the stock 18" rims. went through todays snow storm (8"+) with no problem in my opinion. I think all this talk of -1 sizing is a little overblown unless you plan on being speed snow racer or live in the Yukon. But, I am new to this vehicle/AWD and am used to RWD, so probably anything would feel great to me!
