TPMS light comes on

I have an RDX 2009.
The wheels are supposed to be 18", but I put on 17" winter tires, already mounted on 17"wheels
The tpms light came on and I checked the tire pressure. Its fine.
Does this light come on because the winter tires are not the same size as the spec'd tires?

Do the 17" wheels have Honda spec TPMS sensors installed?

If not, the light is on to tell you the TPMS system system can't communicate with the wheels.

I got this random TPMS light came on today on my way home from work. It went away and things returned to normal 15 minutes later. Very weird I just got my tires replaced and the TPMS kit rebuilt. Not sure if this was the cause. The temp here in ATL was around 40 degrees.

If the pressure is low due to the cold, it may trigger the TPMS warning.

Then when the tire heats up from driving, the pressure rises and the TPMS light goes out.

The tire replacement and TPMS rebuild may have introduced a glitch, but it's more likely that tire pressure is a bit low due to the cold.

Hey sorry to revive an old thread. I just purchased 17" inch winters and am having the same problem. The tire shop told me to bring it to the dealer to have the TPMS re-programmed since the error popped up. I thought it would automatically adjust but it hasn't.

Do I need to bring it to the dealer?

What? There is no reprogramming. They either work or they don't. It is frequency specific.
