Tpms

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knew whether the RDX TPMS sensor is compatible in steel wheels (more specifically the OEM/CRV 17" steel wheel). Just want to make sure I don't run into valve angle problems etc. when it comes time to mount up winters Thanks.

My first guess is no, however when I looked them up on-line ^for more info the description said "(TPMS not included)." So they might. I would call the dealer to verify before you buy some take-offs from Joe down the street.
They are really ugly, not sure what you see in them. Just spend the extra $$ and get some alloy wheels.

Thanks for the reply Mr Marco. They are very hideous but for Canadian winter duty they are perfect

Was hoping someone else had some first hand experience as these seem to be the dealer supplied rims for winter packages around here. The dealers I've emailed say that the TPMS sensors from the RDX will work... but I'm wary of what dealers say to begin with.

Aren't you afraid those wheels will get packed with snow? first of all they're smaller than stock and they're almost solid, not much room for snow to escape.
Better off going to Tirerack.com and get a winter wheel/tire combo.

Check the mounting hardware part numbers from Honda. That will tell you if the sensor holes will be the same diameter. I can't imaging that Honda would spend money to drill their rims with different diameters for sensors based on it going on an Acura or a Honda.

I looked into gettting a set of 17" alloys from a CR-V for my wife's RDX and everything I found looked like it would work. I would definately get the RDX sensors so that you know you are using the right frequency for the TPMS system.

From what I've read, the TPMS sensors that come with the steel wheel will not work with the CR-V's alloy wheels and vice versa. Its because the angle of the the valve stem/hole on the steel wheel for the TPMS is slightly different. But dealers around here quote the RDX TMPS as compatible with the steel wheel, unless I'm supposed to change out the valve stem somehow?
