Feedback from long-term spacer users

I know there's an age-old debate about spacers; some use and like them while others believe they're dangerous and cause pre-mature wear/tear.

So, I'd like to hear from some of you who have actually used them, and used them for awhile now. Preferable those on stock wheels/tires and suspension.

I know that wider, lower-offset wheels is the safe way to achieve a flush look. Believe me or not, I actually like the 18" OEM wheels; the big, fat, stubby spokes help lend a more substantial look to the bottom of the car. If I ever moved to a '10-'12 RDX, would ask the dealer if I could swap the wheels (honestly!).

Thanks for your time.

over on the 3G TL side, we use spacers all the time to bring out the wheels to be more flush.

we use spacers with extended lugs already built in.

I've been looking at the Ichiba Gen 2 spacers; hubcentric w/ built-in lugs. Thinking pretty conservative, maybe 15 mm. Think this would give a little bit better look while being as safe as possible? Have you had any issues w/ premature wear on other suspension components?

So why bring it up? Are you looking for some validation on their use?

Plenty of people useing them from Jeep to Jaguar. However, I would never run a part designed for looks only on my car.

@Marco

"Spacers; Yay or Nay", "Opinions on spacers" or "Should I get spacers"; those would be debate starters and I said no such thing. My thread title says it all, I want feedback from actual spacer users.

Yes, I'm looking for some long-term experiences for my specific vehicle so I can decide if I want to go down this road. I've done plenty of 'for go' and some 'for show' mods in my B16 (full turbo) and K20 (full JDM conversion minus tranny), but those days are over. I just hate that sunken look of the rears, but I actually like the stock wheels, thus why I'm inquiring about spacers. If I didn't like the wheels, this thread wouldn't even exist.

Agreed. ^I hate it too. I think it makes the car look like a fat lady on skates.

My concern would be more about corrosion and balance issues than wheel bearings.

Think any of these wheels would look good on stock WDP:

For sure, those TSW's are some sexy wheels. They look heavy though....
Other thing is I want to stay at 18"; doing a search on this site gives the 8.5 & 9.5" w/ 40 offset as the matches:
http://www.performanceplustire.com/p...mit=Submit&mID[]=210

Using rimsntires comparo calculator; the 8.5 would only get a 5 mm bump. About 2 grand for 5 mm is a bit costly.... If you click on the "Sizes" button for the wheel, you can see all the various sizes. The 8.5" at 30 offset would give a much better 15 mm bump, but it has less backspacing (5.875") so maybe that's why it didn't show up in the search? Is that enough backspace?
