Continental DWS Tires, FTMFW!!
I know that there have been multiple threads about tires and that the DWS are relatively new to the market, but I have to share my drive experience from yesterday.
I drove from CT to DC and back (almost 700 miles in total) with my 9 month old in the back. She did great, I couldn't ask for a better baby.
When I was near the NYC area, the strongest rain that I've ever driven on started (I should have put rain-x in my car). I had to drive in the rain for some 200 miles, sometimes at crawling speeds. The point of my thread? My continental DWS (dry, wet, snow) tires performed incredibly well. I didn't experience a single moment of panic hydroplaning or sliding. There was enough water on the roads to make it a very difficult drive, but the tires gripped to the road like no other tire had done for me in the past.
I just want to, once again, recommend them to anybody who is tire shopping. Continental also has a DW version for those who don't need the snow driving option.
PS, I was not driving my Acura, so don't start telling me how good the SH-AWD performed or whatever else

The conti will be my next tire for my RDX. Living in ABQ, I'm still trying to decide if the DWS or DW willl be best.

I loved the thought of having this tire, but since there is little snow or rain here, I went with the Yoko YK520's due to their progressive sidewall strength and dry handling
If I lived where it rained, I would have gotten the Conti's fo sho, despite the inner-tube looks.

the looks of the tire were temporary, after a few days, who cares, i dont even notice them anymore. Downside is that tire gel/spray shine does not stay on the sidewall...they look good for about a day and thats it.
DWS has not let me down, not once...they havent chirped, hydro'd or missed a beat at all. What they give up in turn in feel & some dry feel, they make up everywhere else...never felt so confident in rain before

I've got Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenzas on my RDX and love them. They are very quiet and the ride is smooth and performed flawlessly during a heavy thunderstorm last weekend. The real test will come this winter.
About the only tire I think I'd rather have is the Yokohama Avid TRZ that I have on our Sienna. Those are the perfect all-season tire.
I had a set of Continental tires on a Pontiac Vibe that I used to own and they were the biggest POS tires I've ever seen. After that experience, I'll never buy a set of Contis again.

id be willing to bet whatever is put on a potiac vibe are not the same as the DWS...if you dont give credit to the objective findings on tire rack on the DWS, you are cheating yourself, i do understand that all it takes is one bad experience so thats too bad

I've had the DWS Much earlier. I've talked to Mike about this, I actually had them during the winter time when we got hit w/ the 2 ft snow storm in the northeast.
These things handled Great. As stated, these are ALL WEAThER, not snow tires, so they did what they were supposed to. I never lost traction. In the rain, no hydroplaning @ all.
It's not about the look, it's bout the performance and the tires performed exactly like they are supposed to and advertised.

I asked the local tire shop if he would take the 225/50-17 DWS tires back. I found my 06 TSX 6MT hydroplanning a few tires over the past few days (@50-65 mph on secondary highways), but it is the dry weather performance I just can't stand - it's like using snow tires in the summer. In the dry, they often chirp on starting, squeel in low speed turns, and corning limits are low, turn-in is slow (even with +6psi in the fronts), and understeer is everywhere, regardless if VSA is off or on.
The tirerack.com feedback says indicates that the sidewalls are soft, and the ride IS nice, but once the car is set up for big sweeping turn (like a highway on/off ramp) and with no new inputs or steering/throttle corrections the tires just squeel, at a comparativley low speed, and with relatively little grip.
I told the tire shop guy that there's a 19mm rsb from Progress, to replace the stock 15mm bar, and perhaps that might change things enough. He replied that I shouldn't have to do that, and he'd see what he could do.

i havent heard the tires chirp, or come close to chirping, at all. I hammer my RDX.
how many miles are on the tires? I find your experience hard to believe...im not doubting your it, but its very distant from DWS normal operation. Ive had none of the above, not even remotely close to those feelings. its been the direct opposite without question.

Carbon Bronze Pearl 2008
Bottom line I definitely plan to replace my stocks Michs this fall with either the Dueller H/L Alenzas or Conti DWS. I'm still leaning towards the Alenzas but we shall see. I have seen the Alenzas installed on the RDX and they look great. Plus, I like their UTQG 600 A A rating.

I just put these on my GF's Civic today. They are GREAT tires, and will go on my RDX when the time comes!

Go Under the Test tab and watch the Video. These tires are 100% perfect for the RDX and all season conditions with SNOW!

Ah man, I didn't know the stock tires are so crappy, I just picked up a CPO so it has new tires. Luckily I'm in SoCal so it won't rain for a good 4 months or so. I'm glad I found this post, very helpful.

As stated for the title of this thread - CONTI DWS for the FTMFW!!!
Conti's will do the job and then some.
stop second guessing.
Also, when you get the tire(even though they are fairly new on the market) Check the interior or side wall for the date of the made date of tire.

the dws have a very smooth non ribbed side wall with alot of surface area which has not held any tire shine for me, let alone a foam. I tried a foam the first time and it basically came off within the hour
that being said, the tire does retain a finish, the only finish being like a matte

Noiser than the Mich's But More sturdy ON the road. Hydro-WHAT??! pshhh.
Works great, had it about probably 2000+ miles on them. tested in heavy rain/thunderstorms/ and our 2ft snow storm. Didn't have a problem. Go with what you want, but I think for Mike and I. We base it on ALL WEATHER usage. and where we live, it's much necessary to count the weather basis we go through year in and year out. us North-east people need the reliability. **** the looks of the tire. I rather be able to see another day, then regret getting sexii looking tires, but no grip.
DWS - FTMFW. period.
oh Btw, the tires are selling out quicker, bc it's built of reputation, as not only being new, but great performance on Any and just about all model cars.

Burning Brakes
I ended up getting another set of the Bridgestones. DT made me a deal and I still had warranty left. I like them enough, and I don't really drive in much weather here. Plus they look tuf, lol.

I have 28k on mine and I finally got around to rotate the tires for the first time. The fronts, which are in the rear now, still have about 3/32 of tread left before it hits the wear bar. Can't decide to stick with the 18s or get the OEM 19s.
#34
me too.... Im also interested on getting 19 but a lil affraid since there's only few available tires for OEM 19s....

I have a 2008 RDX, stock 18" tires and wheels and after 33k miles I had almost no tread left ont he stock Michelins. After reading several posts on this site and reading reviews I decided on the Yokahoma Envigor's (235/55R-18 YOKOHAMA AVID ENVIGOR (H-V)) and ordered them from Tire Rack. The dealer charged me $120 to mount and balance all 4.
I have a few hundred miles on them now and I really enjoy them. They seem softer and quiter, while still retaining a sporty feel. I can't say I've been on them hard int he corners, but I have pushed them a little and I feel confident with them. Also, IMHO, they look at least as good, if not better, than the OEM tires. I live in NY, but as it's still good weather here, I can't say how they'll fair in the winter weather. I don't expect it to be an issue because as I mentioned earlier, my last set had almost no tread left for some time now and I made it through last winter with no issues.
I only have a few hundred miles on them

Hey digitalfoster - I also have these tires and like them enought to put them on a RAV4. Be sure to watch your MPG's as mine went up about 10%. I have driven them through the rain and they were fantastic, but most of all I enjoy how they make little noise compared to the OEM.

Read every review I could get my hands on and still can't make up my mind. Thinking of spltting the difference and putting the Yoko's on the RDX and DWS on TL.
Will inform post on findings.

Got the DWSs installed today. From the limited driving so far, compared to the OEM Michelins, they are a little quieter and have sidewalls which are softer. They aren't the prettiest tire either but I'm looking forward to trying them in the snow this winter.
