TPMS light issue

Hey guys. New here. I've been all over the place, and this seems like the best and most active place to ask some pretty tricky questions and I've been stuck, so here's my situation: I have an '07 RDX, 170K non-nav and the TPMS (not the '!' light, the letters TPMS) has been on and it seems to be messing with my cruise control. My dash light turns on when I press the button but goes off as soon as I let go of it, as if I'm pressing the brake peddle. I've replaced the stoplight switch. I also changed all four sensors in the tires with new ones, and they said at the shop that there are two "permanent" codes they couldn't erase. RF wheel speed sensor and a RR wheel speed sensor. I replaced both of those, then I disconnected the battery and beeped the horn three times, nothing. I've driven on the interstate over 50 mph for a ways, nothing. There is no reset button despite what the internet says. The tires are good, the alignment is good, the wheel bearings are good, tire pressure is fine, and I checked the spare tire even though I don't think there's a sensor in it, and it's ok too. All the code readers I found only seem to reset the sensors and not the system itself. There's not a lot of info on this car either. Not sure if it's because of the non-nav, or because it is a late 2006 build, making it a very early gen 1. ANY info you guys could toss my way would be helpful. Thanks for reading.

What are the specific codes for the wheel speed sensors?

Each can have two codes: either communication error or sensor failure. Knowing which one of these it is will get you started in the right direction. Note that Honda ABS codes aren't standard OBD2 codes and need a special code scanner.

Lots of systems on the RDX don't work properly with bad wheel speed sensors. And those codes will go away as soon as the ECU starts receiving correct wheel speed data again.

Also, just gotta ask: any chance the replacement sensors were damaged while putting them in? They are very sensitive and even gently taping them with a hammer can ruin them.

Only asking b/c I did exactly that first time I changed a speed sensor.

I don't think they got damaged when changing them. New ones went right in without a hammer or even plyers. Just wiggled them in with my fingers. So, unless they got damaged in shipping, they should be ok.

She made it sound like they were communication error codes. They had to take it to a tire shop down the road to use their scanner because the place who did the install was an average garage and not a 'tire only' shop. She told me this as she was handing me my keys and didn't show me the code numbers or what system (ABS or TPMS), or I would have wrote them down and did a deep dive as a fallow up. I don't have a tool to scan TPMS, just motor and transmission.

I agree it sounds like you installed the whsp sensor correctly.

Corroded wire between the VSA modulator and speed sensor is my next guess:
