TPMS Failures
TPMS Failures
Hey Folks. Just sending this out to see if anyone else has had an issue with the TPMS sensors failing. I had the RF sensor located up in the splash guard (Not the one on the valve stem) replaced a couple months back and now I've got the computer telling me another one has gone kaput. It's only when the tires get pretty warm...aka doing interstate speeds for more than 15min at a time. Once I shut the car down and restart the warning is gone...even if it's only for a few seconds. Sometimes it comes right back...sometimes it doesn't. Tire pressure is perfect all the way around. Original tires and rims...about 9k on the car now.
I was cruising on the interstate two weeks ago and slightly drifted onto the brim of the road where they have these very rapid mini-ridges to SCARE-THE-LIVING-DAYLIGHT out of one! Intended to remind one to stay on course. My right side tires barely touched them for a second but it was enough vibration to trigger the TPMS!! I was freaking out. I pulled off the highway thinking maybe a tire blew out or something. All was well. Tire pressures good. Started up the car and no more warning! But it scared the crap out of me. I have been checking the pressures every other day since then just to make sure and all seems well. Phew!
That's actually interesting cuz the interstates here are really poor and that's been the only time I've had the issue. I'll have to pay closer attention to it next time it happens to see if it was on one of the rougher roads. Thanks for the feedback, Carbon!
