Long time lurker, first post. '08 Base
We've had our '08 RDX for about two years now and haven't had any issues, aside from those cause by the wife.
It's her DD now since we bought a '14 Accord Sport.
About a two months ago, when the WI winters began to get REALLLLY cold, the sound across all inputs (AM/FM, aux, CD, etc.) went dead. The display screen still functions as though everything is fine, just no sound, whatsoever.
I've spent HOURS digging through all the threads that might pertain to our problem, but most of the time, from what I've read, this issue seems to have happened only to the '07s and was promptly fixed by Acura.
For the record, I've done zero diagnostics on it, yet, but I'm just trying to get a feeling for what I might be getting into here.
Figured I would start with the basics like battery connections/cleanliness and move onto fuses, after that, but is it unreasonable to think we might need a whole new head unit? Also, if we do need a new head unit, are there any alternatives to purchasing through the dealer?
If a new head unit is the case, I would install it, myself, but I want to mitigate costs across the board.
Any help is very much appreciated and thank you in advance for any responses.
Have a wonderful day.

My 08 Tech does the same thing once or twice a month. I get another problem where I get sound; but, none of the buttons respond (preset on unit or channel button on steering wheel). When that happens, I'm stuck on that XM radio station without station ID showing by the windshield display (I only have volume control). It started right after the basic warranty ran out. Most of the time, hitting the ELS power button on/off corrects the problem. Every once in a while, I have to restart the RDX to correct the problem.
I will consider correcting the problem if it becomes more than a 5 second fix.
