jerking issue
Have a 07 RDX, just got it about a month ago with 73xxx on it. New to this forum and turbo Acura motors. Delt with mitsu and nissan before. Looked all over to see if anyone was having the same problem and found a couple but no reasoning behind it. Problem i am having is a bit of jerking around 2k RPM at any speed... thought it could be the plugs but not to sure.. also from what i know, and what i have always done is used regular copper plugs and any non na motor and i see everyone saying use iridium on this motor... idk what to do...... any help would be greatly appreciated..

Always start troubleshooting with the simple and inexpensive.
A dirty engine air filter can restrict flow, particularly during acceleration; try changing it.
Secondly, low transmission fluid can cause jerky movement. Check the trans level.
Only use iridium spark plugs, such as the NGK Laser Iridium SILKR8A-S.

filter and all fluids are clean. It's not a slow jerking, it is a very quick jerking, hard to explain... changing the plugs this weekend as long as i can find some one to have them in stock.. thanks for the help.

I think the "jerking" you are describing is the turbo kicking in. The RDX is my first exposure to driving a turbo as well and took a little getting used to in the beginning with the rush of power or "jerking" if you will around that 2K RPM level. Once you get used to it and learn how to throttle the RDX it is truly a blast to drive!

not new to turbo motors. I've dealt with Mitsubishi and Nissan. Built a 280sx and a 3rd gen eclipse turbo. Its not the turbo kicking in. It is a continuous jerking until I give it a little more gas or let off a little.

Certainly, changing the ATF is much easier than changing the spark plugs. So is the ATF nice and red, or very dark? My owner's manual says change the ATF at 60K miles for 'severe' service.
I am basically just saying I would do the easy stuff first, esp. if you have no idea if the ATF was ever changed, or when it was last changed.
Let us know what you find 'fixes' the problem.

@mikdeeze... we seem to be having the same issue with our RDX. It does two different things. Low rpm when cruising in 4 or 5 gear and then slow hit the gas, it will start to shake. I either have to paddle it down to a lower gear or let off the gas. For this, I was think the air filter may be dirty and thinking of switching to a K&N to help with air flow.
Is this still happening for you or did you take it to get the ATF changed? Did that work?
The other shake is every now and then when accelerating, it will get a bucking kind of shake. Its annoying.
You guys know on average what a ATF change would cost at the dealer?

Same issue...been bugging me as long as i've owned it. It's generally restricted in my case to snow...and occasionally rain. Mind you this is not an aggressive driving or low traction issue. It's always at cruise, very light throttle and often a minor grade up in the road. Speed us usually about 35-45 and will do it in 4th or 5th...usually between 1600rpm and 2200 rpm. It will do it with VCS on or off, manual or automatic mode. I've sometimes thought it may be the computer wanting a downshift and boost coming up but then "changing its mind" if that makes any sense. I did a full fluid change about 20K ago and it seemed to help for a while. Intrigued by the earlier post of the torque converter not locking properly. I don't think it's a serious issue...just turned 100K on mine this week and running strong...but it is an annoyance and a little freaky to get that jerk in snowy driving.

Sorry to bring this back up. I just came back from a road trip and I noticed this problem. Whenever I'm heading up a steep slope on the freeway. I feel the jerking with no power to the car for a split few seconds then the car will begin to start picking up speed after the jerking. Did anyone managed to resolve this problem?

Same issues here. Mine does it on slight inclines usually between 20-40 mph. Shudders/shimmys and doesn't want to accelerate. The TPMS goes off around the same time usually, then resets itself after awhile. Not sure if it's related or not. Mechanic thinks it's the differential or possibly a bearing. Ever get it figured out?

I assume you mean the traction control and not the tire pressure monitoring system? Either way, jerking or hesitation at lower rpm while under load can also point to your spark plug coil pack(s). Generally that will be tied to engine speed, regardless of gear. I've had to replace coils in both 1st gen Fits we've had for this same issue.
If your shimmy is based on road speed and not varying with rpm or gear, it's most likely related to something in the drive-train between the transmission and wheels (diff, axle, etc).

Thanks! It's there to pressure monitoring system that keeps going off around the same time this shuddering happens. Probably unrelated but i thought I'd mention it just in case.
It would be great if it were just spark plugs!

This may sound odd, but check your battery cables and make sure they are on nice and tight. Also make sure the connection from battery to alternator is secure.
