Hey peepz..hows thingS?
I come to after changing my brake pads from original to EBC YELLOW stuff, WOW what a difference.
AMAZING.
They still make streaking noises, cause it takes about up to 250-500miles to run it through.
OKay. Issues I'm having, I dont know if you have simliar issues.
Condensation built up on front headlight DRIVER SIDE ONE)...I'm psised about that...(i'm pretty sure warrenty covers it).
Next up...My temperature sensor, which I haven't noticed, has been dangling off near my radiator for quite some time( my buddy sought this out for me)...and is messed up...(Im surprised all my services times..they didn't even seem to notice that)..next up..next up..my Deshboard..on my far right, passanger side..keeps on having a clickin noise..and it's bothering the *** outa me....anyone else have this issue?
Also...I think my rear passanger seat behind driver speaker is blown out....
They should be all covered by warrenty..
I'm on 19750m....YEAR 2008.
So sad.........so sad.
I still love the darn car....its just....sad ya know?

yep, im right there with u...great suv but american build quality, i have rattles all over the place up front, both front doors creak & rattle, glass shakes when windows are open, the winshield creaks, the seats knock, speakers cause serious vibrations and rattles all over the car, im very dissapointed. the only time the RDX runs smoothly is on flat even brand new tar, other than that, this thing is not enjoyable to drive without the stereo vol 25+ for me, i absolutely hate listening to this truck in motion.
Wow. I have a clicking noise from the driver's front and maybe the odd sound from the hatch area - but it's nothing wild. Speakers are fine unless it's AM radio.
The front rattle will be looked at one my next service - it's something that is really only bad in winter (and rougher winter roads). In summer, they can't track it down.

It's just kind of Disappointing. I mean...As a luxary car, it has everything Needed, and for the price paid, compared to an X3, or Land Rover, etc....it's worth it...
I'm lookin into the Audi Q5, but with all I wanted it..it'd be 10k-13k+ more than what I paid for this.
My Buddy's gona help me out and fix all the nicknak's..but You can never buy time back...

these issues are very insignificant if you consider Audi the other side. while the Q5 was just released, we don't know what will fail on it yet, but......
headlight moisture? you'll have that with an Audi also. heck, they actually have a TSB saying that it's normal and they are not to be replaced under warranty.
another comparison with the newer Audis.... I'm working on an '08 S6 V10 right now, 5800 miles.... putting the engine back in that I had to remove to replace a simple oxygen sensor. 5800 miles and the engine has already been out. how does that make you feel about a speaker going out? not to mention also on this car already the bumper has been removed because the homelink failed.
and that's just what I'm doing right now... not mentioning the 2.0T engine that I replaced last week from a loss of oil pressure.......
count your blessings that your issues really are minor and insignificant compared to the "competition".
the grass is usually not greener in germany.....................

It's just disappointing overall for all us people who do have the vehicle..and are enthusiasists of the car.
As of now, I'm only hoping its that.
I live in NYC, so seeing scratches on my bumpers due to PEOPLE who can't drive/park...it's frustrating as hell.
What do we do fellas/(or ladies).
what do we do?
o0o0 V6 possilby on RDX..suposedly there's supposed to make another(rumor) SUV bigger than the MDX???
ANyone heard?
and v6 on a tSX???? SERIOUSLY???
Where was the freakin V6 on the RDX??!?!!?! ROAR~!

I am an enthusiast of our cars. but.... I also understand and accept that no mechanical/electrical devise used by humans is perfect. and I do believe our Acura's are well above the line of average in reliability in all areas.
and I am very very glad I don't live anywhere like NYC.... I probably wouldn't even buy a nice vehicle if I lived there.
I came from an '06 accord V6 6MT, personally, I'm still liking the turbo 4. although when I had an MDX loaner and remembered the wonderful sound of the J series V6............

I dealt with a mechanical nightmare lemon CX-7, built in japan, and moving to an upper tier brand like Acura, i definately escaped the mechanical mess in some ways.
but, my 07 RDX was also a lemon due to workmanship issues that could not be fixed. a build quality issue also equals down time. My 07 RDX was in the shop for about a month in total due to a sunroof problem. So would i want my engine being pulled at 6k, obviously not, but would i want my roof pulled apart at 6k, obviously not either.
Both mechanical and build quality issues affect the ownership experience, is one worse than the other? tough to call because if either type of problem cant be fixed, you are in the same boat headed the same place.
i will agree that the german brands are brutal in their own right, and the thought of an engine being yanked, or my fams 6 series the daily warning that the "active steering" has malfunctioned and been disabled is always ridiculous, so no car is perfect no matter the price or the origin, but why change the formula that has worked for so long....Acura should keep building their cars in japan and not merge them in the US. i dont care if it makes the car cost more $$, or the platform is universal, or whatever the effect of building in japan may be...but i dont want this thing rolling out of Ohio, problems galore in my book. I already dealt with 2 lemons.

not long ago I had an A8 W12, $140K car, with 600(aprox) miles I had to disassemble the roof to replace the sunroof "cassette" as they call it. that car then came in at 1100 miles with one of the two ecm's failed. left the owner stranded in winter. as far as I know that car is ok as of now, a few months later..... but......
so again, acura, although not perfect, is not below the quality threshold.
and....
Nyjumpman23..... the MDX was a snoozemobile for me to drive.... nice as it is, and it was very nice... it has absolute zero enjoyment/fun factor to drive to me. I have no intention of moving into an MDX...... similar snooziness to an RL....... boring to drive....
I've had my 07 RDX for 2 years and 45000 miles now.
Had one bad door speaker that I paid for and replaced myself, (my preference over having the dealership touch my car).
Otherwise trouble-free, and this is supported by the 2009 Consumer Reports data as well -- Honda/Acura is tops in reliability, with the RDX reported "above average" and recommended.
I agree with stevel, you don't know headaches until you've had a VW/Audi product. My Touareg was a nightmare (despite being a terrific vehicle to drive) and the Acura is a dream.

I truly don't believe the country of origin/manufacturing has anything to do with the quality. I owned a 2008 TSX w/ Navi (100% built in Japan) and it had several rattles, a poorly fit rear glass that needed replacement, a poorly greased sunroof, etc. All these problems added up, making me question the fit and finish that is praised with Acura.
The fact of the matter is that companies are working with less resources, and as a result their employees are overworked -- and things as a result get glossed over, either due to time restraints or changes in what is acceptable from a QA perspective.
Until these car companies begin focusing a little more on their product and client satisfaction, it will only get worse. In a couple years, they will begin to see the downfall of their decisions today, when the marketplace changes their view on their product. Only then will they work to correct it, remembering what made them so successful in the first place.
It's all part of a normal business cycle.

stevel your 100% right. I had the opportunity to work at a very large Benz dealer here in ny. After about a year i was able to really get to know the entire line inside and out, you wouldn't believe some of the problems some of these new benz's had . The grass is not greener in germany. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar Acura is one of the best value/makes out there.

I can B6 service the RDX during "Breakfast with the Beatles". I can't get my Mk4 GTI done before Limbaugh is skewering Pelosi.
Yet I love my VR6 GTI....its an illness.
Whew..let's try to keep this straight Acura RDX....nothing against u peepz...
enjoy all feedback...
so yeah..and also..my Main ACuRA RDX key..the flip mechegnism...doesn't stay straight...it doesn't lock in..so i need a new key.

My car was in for service over the weekend for some of the issues
Both front doors out of alignment, (confirming my beliefs) both had to be reset w/the striker panels. all noises gone for the most part....they were significant & loud so im glad it got fixed

Has anyone had the window rattling noise looked out? When my windows are partly opened they rattle and I know some other people have had this problem. Just wondering if anyone has raised the issue to the dealer.
BTW, nyjumpman I get a major headache when I read your e-mails man. I feel like you're talking 1,000 wpm and just had 5 cans of Red Bull.

i had the windows looked at about my last 4 visits. every single rdx that i have been in does it, they dont have a fix, only thing they have done is lubed the tracks and tried to tighten...
the problem is that the window rattles from lateral movement in the frame, its rock solid up and down, the gap between panels in the door is not tight enough from keeping the window from going back n forth, thus rattling....its horrible but its also been a trait of every single honda and acura i have owned. accords, crvs, tls, rls, and now this.

It's the way where the auto window mechagnism works..No fix around the window rattle. As for me...I work with 4 computers @ once, so I'm fixed factor all over the place.
How ar eyou getting headachse? Stop drinking redbull. LOL.
Take a tylenol.
As of now, Mike, glad you got things fixed man. Cool w/ the updates.
As for me, I'm just trying to settle in on setting a proper apptment w/ Acura...
For the massive fixes:
1)Condensation on Driver-side headlight
2)Dashboard - passanger side clickin noise..constant
3)Temperature sensor has Malfunctioned
4)Car Key - mechagnism doesn't lock. in straight.
5)Rear Driver-side - Speaker is poof'd
SIGH*...DAMMIT! NEED THE FIX...hope I get a good loaner.

the condensation on driver-side headlight should be covered and replaced under warranty. i had one of my headlights replaced under warranty on my CL that had condensation. unless acura has changed this for the RDX
This may be a little off topic but from what I have been seeing (I have several freinds that are mechanics) even foreign car manufacturers are slowly turning into our American Big three (or what used to be big three). Quality is taking a nose dive and we are paying for the crap!
Yes, my 08 RDX 13,500miles makes noises especially in the winter. Is it acceptable, it depends on the individual. I test drove 2- Trailblazer SS (which I wanted badly) but both were noisey on the test drive and had a lot of little annoying quirks. I drove a Subaru WRX wagon. Also noisey.
My Acura was the quietest of the vehicles tested. I'm fairly happy with the RDX but they could have done better for the money!
Lastly every car seems to increase in price but quality goes down. Maybe the Foreign car companies will take a look at GM,Ford,Chrysler before they go down the same path!!
