Factory roof rack removal of fairing

Just bought a 2007 RDX and my Thule roof rack will fit but not with the factory fairing pieces. How do I remove the fairing caps on both ends to slide the pieces off? Not enough room for both racks. The fairings only slide so far due to the contour of the roof...dumb design.
Love the car but if I only knew this would be a problem. Going camping next week and need to take the kayak and bike on top. Any suggestions appreciated

Roof rack problem resolved

Found the answer on another site and was relatively simple once you knew the trick. Just insert a screwdriver in the hole on the inside of the black cap, rear cap worked best, and while pushing in with the screwdriver which releases a tab inside the cap---slap the black cap with the palm of your hand to the direction you are removing it. The cap should pop right off with little effort. Then you can remove the metal tabs by sliding them off the rails. This is providing you already removed the 2 fairings with the star screws. THis procedure was for only removing the two annoying sliding metal spacers on the track. Took less than 5 min start to finish. The end caps just slide and snap back into place.
