Clicking (tapping?) in reverse
Clicking (tapping?) in reverse
2008 RDX 130k miles.
Strange clicking/tapping noise only in reverse. Its very slight and not a steady frequency. Happens both when reversing and moving and when reversing with car held in place by the brakes.
Anyone experience anything similar? Thoughts?
Thanks....

Only happening with throttle inputs. I doubt its anything to do with drive components outside of the transmission (since it happens when the car is stationary but throttle inputs are still applied)
Check your motor / transmission mounts.
Worn mounts can allow excess engine movement, putting stress on other components. Applying throttle while stationary, only in reverse, makes me think the engine / transmission is moving from the rotational torque. I have had this happen to me in a previous car, albeit in the opposite direction. Anymore more than mild acceleration forward (also when applying throttle while stationary) caused a grinding / rubbing sound. That said, every engine is mounted differently.
