Chipped windshield-repaired?

I noticed a small chip in the middle of our windshield the other day. Called the glass place to have it "fixed". They said no problem $50. Picked up the car today and the chip looks the same and I can still feel the defect. They tell me this is how they fix the problem and that an epoxy was added to keep it from spreading. Is this the case or can small chips like this actually be repaired leaving behind only a blurry area of the windshield?

ya thats how its fixed especially if the chip isn't new and it has had time for dust to settle. Not sure about the US but here in Canada (specifically Ontario) insurance companies cover the entire replacement of windshield and no ding on premiums.

I'd just wait it out until spring or summer and get it replaced.

My insurance will pay for as many repairs as needed w/out an "incident". (@ some point it need to be replaced) Replacing the whole thing would count.
