Burning Smell

Hey everyone,

I have recently noticed a burning smell in the cabin whenever I go uphill or want to accelerate when going uphill. At first I thought its from other cars but I've been having that burning smell even when no one is around. I have 3600 kilometers on my car so it's not a brand new one. Is this something that I should worry about? Should I go to a service center?

Thanx in advance everyone

Machines -- much like canines -- have ways of getting our attention.

When my Spitz (25 lb fuzzy, white, wolf-like creature) wants my attention he:

A. Barks a lot, or
B. Nudges me incessantly and (A) Barks a lot.

This explains the origin of the term "dogged". If he does this in the middle of the night, it means:

A. Someone is creeping around just outside, or
B. The house is on fire.

When machines want our attention they:

A. Scream loudly, or
B. Smell bad.

If we choose to ignore this attention seeking behavior, machines become offended and refuse to participate any further.

^ WTF?

Anywho, check oil levels (engine and tranny) and possibly coolant. If you don't suspect any leaks take it to the dealership and get them to ride with you to track the problem.

If you just had an oil change done, it can be just the oil that is on the pan burning away or something.

Thanx for your response. I haven't had my first oil change yet. It shows that the oil life is at 30%. I haven't checked the coolant yet. I'll check for leaks as well.

I checked the coolant level and it was above MIN. There are no leaks either. I think I'll have to take it to the service center.

I would occasionally get a slight burning smell after shutting the engine off when it had been driven for awhile. The car had less than 1000 miles on it when this occured. I wondered about what might be causing it but now that I have more miles on the car I no longer get it.

I get this exact same problem with my 2008 RDX. I have mentioned it numerous times to the dealer and they have ignored me. I just got home from vacation and found a good size pool of oil on my garage floor..going in tomorrow will let you know
