Blown rear strut?
Blown rear strut?
My left rear is brutally loud, "clunk" as if it's bottoming out. No, it's not the harsh suspension. I've had the car for more than a year now. It's only on the left rear. If I go over a speed bump, the right side is a normal thunk.
I've brought it up with the dealer at the last service and they apparently "tightened" some bolts. It felt slightly better, but after a 3hrs road trip all highway, it returns. What's worrying me is that it's bad to the point that if we're taking a tight right turn and the left side runs over a man-hole or some large object, the rear will actually snap out because it can't absorb the impact. I've had it happened to me at least 3 times on the same turn. Do I have a blown rear strut? what else can I suggest the tech to look at?

sounds like you've diagnosed it.
I had a similar thing happen in the 06 STi I used to have. I took it in for the one side, and they replaced both rear struts under warranty. It was just a dud strut.
I suggest you call Acura customer service and let them know about the unsafe condition you're driving in and how your dealer sent you out that way.
That should get more than just some bolts tightened.

im jus saying - but wouldnt u question the explanation of 'tightened some bolts' - i wouldnt leave the dealership like that, especially, as you predicted, its a done strut...sounds also like a shitty service dept
Thank you so much guys.
mau108, thank you so much for the link. It's the same problem. I took it to an independent shop and had a mechanic inspect it and he came up with the same conclusion before I even told him what I thought it could be. I'm going to take it to the dealer and get them to fix it.
