Backup Camera Slowly failing ?

Hi- I have an Acura rdx 2008. About to hit 150K miles.

sometimes when I reverse, the backup camera does not come up on the screen. The screen acts like it is switching to the camera, but all I see is black with the backlight on.

I am getting no signal from the camera.

I troubleshot this, I had someone in the front seat with the car shifted to reverse with foot on the brake so no movement.

I hit the trunk door above the camera area as I suspect it is loose wiring. After a couple hits, the signal returned. But the issue is not resolved as it still comes and goes.

my questions are:

- how can I troubleshoot this and actually find where the loose connection is ?
- has anyone dealt with this before ?
- can I upgrade the camera ?

thanks in advance !

Any help or guidance on how to fix / diagnose?

is it just obvious ? Replace the rear camera?

Thanks for any input / tips / pointers, anything. Appreciated.

If smacking the rear hatch can cause the signal to come and go, it sounds like you're already troubleshooted the location of the loose connection. Before replacing the camera, I'd say just disassemble the area to see if there is anything obviously loose in the wiring or the harness. Not sure exactly where the connections are, but I expect the FSM would have some diagrams. Or just start taking things off and document it so that you can easily put it back together.
