Am I expecting too much?
Am I expecting too much?
I recently noticed that my wife's '07 RDX has a crack on the left front fender liner. Spoke to the local dealer, no go; spoke to the regional CS mananger (who sounded very new and inexperienced to this roll, basically told me the same thing as the dealer said). We never hit anything with my car, the bump and fender were spotless.
Not sure whether I should press harder. I was thinking about taking Acura to the court, I happen to have legal assistance from my employer, all I can lose is $25 co-pay.
Before I go there, I want to hear what you think. If you all think I am asking for too much, I will stop here.
I am not worrying a lot about that, nor do I plan to get it fixed at my own cost (the part costs about $65, plus the labor, should be under $150).
I used to own a 335xi, it's smaller and more expensive, but at least the dealer was super nice. They replaced my tires for free when they worn out at 12K miles, not sure whether leasing vs. owning made the difference.

Hmmm...I've never heard of a dealer replacing tires for free because of wear, so that MAY have been a lease thing?
How big is the crack? It could have been a rock (or other foreign object) kicked up by the tire that cracked the fender liner. You're talking about the black plastic in the wheel wells, right? If it's not a big crack, I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Of course, this is my opinion without having seen the size/severity/location of the crack.
I've received both good and poor service from the same Acura dealership in regards to my car. I had to call Acura on them because my service adviser told me that there was no light around my ignition keyhole, and he was ready to stand by that claim. Eventually, the service manager called me saw to it that everything was replaced under warranty as it should be.

I think that you are expecting too much...if it is the black plastic (that Vietninja mentioned) I don't think that you will get anywhere...How bad is it though? is it really worth your time and money to battle the dealer, that you will probably have to go back to, over what you estimate to be ~$200?
Do you think that this is a defect?

^^^ I would do the same. It seems like it's a hard to see crack anyway. THat is if it's in the wheel well. Have you ever checked the underside of the car for scratches and rust? What's the difference? If it were the hood or the door paint, that would be one thing...
I have a 2010 RDX with under 4,000 miles on it and I also noticed my left front fender liner has cracked. The crack appears to have started from the screw attaching the liner to the body. I am planning to take this up with the dealer when I take it in for service. I have not hit anything and although I know it's possible a rock could have been thrown up, I am doubtful since the crack radiates from the screw. I hope my dealer will come through for me.

Very common RDX injury. Mine are cracked on both sides. I just kind of don't worry about it much. I replaced the screw on the driver's side with a toggle bolt to hold better. I think if anyone barely touches your front bumper in a parking lot they are toast.
