AC Problem-Battery Drain

AC Problem-Battery Drain
2007 RDX with 92K. AC stopped working after traveling to Las Vegas from LA. After it went down, AC came on and off intermittently without the AC turned on.After a few days of this problem, the battery went dead. Took it to repair shop they checked out the car no alternator/battery problems, AC only needed recharge.
After this car ran like new again for three weeks, then again after a 100 mile trip out to the dessert area the AC goes down again/ works intermittently without being switched on. Only this time there is a load grinding noise (intermittently at low RPM) and a rough idle. After a day, again the battery goes dead.
Repair shop check out car again and find the AC is stuck in the on position and over pressuring the AC system, blowing out some freon. They still can't figure out how this stuck switch is draining the battery.
Today, they recharged the freon, and again the car is running fine and they can't find any problem. Chances are this will happen again, because they still don't know what the root cause of the AC compressor getting stuck on is.
Any help or feedback would be appreciated.

being intermittent it could be the clutch coil. If they did a "recharge" that would indicate a leak. ac systems don't need a "top off" or recharge. that would indicate a problem that needs to be fixed. Another problem might be a bad relay too-stuck switch

Thanks. Problem ended up being a combination of a wiring short and a bad relay. Relay was sticking on causing over pressure on AC and the battery drain.
