Exclamation 2010 RDX AC Compressor Kaput

-Has any had this problem. AC compressor on my 2010 RDX (9,000 miles) was taken out by a small piece (less than 2 inches) of plastic road debris - pierced line with coolant in it. New compressor needed. Not covered by warrenty - Act of God. I say its bad design. Why put the compressor where it will be struck by road debris? My faith in Acura is shaken.

Is this because they do not have the plastic covers under the chasis like my TL and TSX have?

Thanks for the response. Thats what I am trying to find out. Should there have been a screen or a cover to protect the compressor?

My finger Xd. Can't live without my RDX A/C when needed. Best A/C system I've had in a car so far!

The compressor is too beefy and protected to be damaged by road debris. However the condenser and its lines are right up front in the airstream (as on virtually all cars) where they are subject to puncture.

If the condenser or lines were punctured and refrigerant lost, it's possible the compressor could have been damaged by running without lubrication (the refrigerant contains oil). But this is not very likely, because the computer is supposed to detect low refrigerant pressure and shut off the compressor.

Perhaps it is the condenser they want to replace and not the compressor?

Im a dunce. You are right. It is the condensor. This thing has me totally rattled. I have lost my faith in the quality of the Acura product.

AC Condenser Done in By Road Debris

My original post said AC condensor. At least they both start with "c". It is the compressor that is being replaced after being pierced by a small piece of road debris. Has anyone had this happen? My 2010 RDX has only 9,200 miles on it. I was totaly unprepared for this not to be covered by the warranty. A simple screen would have protected it. Needless to say I am bummed out.
